'Textile Tales' Event
03/06/2011
Thank you so much to everyone who came along to the 'Textile Tales'event held at Our Patterned Hand on Friday 3rd June. The evening was hosted by MA student, Jessica Plant, who is building an archive of fabrics that carry everyday and extraordinary stories of people and communities living & working in east London.
We had such an interesting and lovely evening, sharing stories about our relationship to our garments, childhood cloth toys, newly crafted objects and treasured stashes of fabric. What was revealed was how much is held within them; our connections to important people, times, beliefs, places, and revelations.
The collection of textiles and tales will be used by Jessica to create a piece of artwork that aims to reveal an untold visual and verbal history of this area.
